Neurodiversity Provision: Self-Evaluation Tool

Published On: 28 August 2026

A self-evaluation tool for SENDCOs and leadership teams.

Time to complete: approximately 45-60 minutes.

How to use this tool

This tool is designed to be completed by a leadership and / or SENDCO team together. Its focus is whole-setting systems, culture and provision, rather than individual classroom practice.

For each statement, discuss what evidence you have. Before you agree a rating, pause and ask:

  • How do we know?
  • What would a member of staff say if we asked them?
  • What would a neurodivergent pupil or their family say?
  • Who are we picturing when we imagine a ‘neurodivergent pupil’?
  • Have we considered other intersectional factors, such as race, class, sex, and socio-economic background?

There are no right or wrong answers. Answering as honestly as possible will help you identify areas of strength and priorities for development.
