A toolkit of strategies

Team Teach training helps every individual in your organisation respond in a way that is reasonable, proportionate and necessary.

Our techniques promote a respectful, supportive approach. You will learn strategies that maintain positive relationships and encourage de-escalation together with a thorough needs analysis. For lower-risk settings this may include safe positive handling techniques, including personal safety, appropriate for the environment.

For higher-risk settings, our positive behaviour training teaches strategies that ensure personal safety and the reduction of risk and restraint. Participants learn a wide range of authorised physical restraint and handling techniques specifically designed to support and respond to distressed behaviour safely. This training includes relevant legal standards and expectations related to the use of force, and reporting, recording, monitoring and evaluating requirements.

We offer a range of delivery options so you can choose the method that suits your needs.

In-person training: Face-to-face sessions offered at venues across the UK, or delivered in-house at a venue provided by your organisation.

Blended learning: A combination of in-person and virtual training sessions, designed to fit around the needs of your setting.

Virtual training: Learn from the comfort of your home or workplace with our online learning options.*

As you know, our training is very flexible. We provide “public” courses throughout the year, all over the UK, and private courses for multiple organisations at a venue of their choice. “Staff feel more confident and workers in charge can lead by example. Holding has reduced because staff have used more diversion techniques, staff confidence has increased and there’s a better understanding between team members.

I’d recommend this course because it gives staff a grounding and confidence to be better placed to deal with behaviour that challenges.”

– Paul Funnell, Disability Youth Service Lead Manager, Croydon Council

“It helps us as an employer meet our legal obligations under Health & Safety to ensure our staff are equipped for their job, whether that be skilled in a range of personal safety techniques for our lone workers, to being skilled in a range of positive handling techniques for our Residential Services for Children and Young People, alongside the theoretical knowledge base to understand behaviour and use a range of de-escalation techniques.”

– Martin Sweeney, Advanced Trainer and Team Teach Coordinator for Mid Lothian Council
