Inclusive Practice: ADHD is a practical, face-to-face, CPD-certified course from Inclusion by Team Teach. It helps schools build consistent, evidence-informed practice that educators can apply immediately.

Overview

This CPD-certified course has been created to provide practical support to anyone working with children or young people with ADHD in schools and education settings.

Many of us are aware of ADHD and the impact it can have on learning and engagement, but it can be difficult to know how we should adapt everyday practice to support our students more inclusively, and how we can respond more confidently and consistently to meet their individual needs.

Inclusive Practice: ADHD helps staff understand how ADHD may affect a child or young person’s attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation and classroom participation.

Course attendees will learn practical, inclusive strategies for real-life situations, to enable students with ADHD to participate effectively in learning, build self-esteem and independence, engage with staff, peers and their environment successfully, and develop a strong sense of belonging.

The 6-hour course covers:

  • ADHD as a neurodevelopmental difference, and common barriers faced in an education setting. 
  • How ADHD may affect attention, emotional regulation, and executive function. 
  • Different presentations of ADHD, and how these can be influenced by wider contextual factors. 
  • Practical adaptations and adjustments to increase engagement, improve communication, and support sensory needs. 
  • How positive, proactive approaches can help develop self-esteem, social-emotional learning, and independence. 
  • Understanding the graduated approach, legal responsibilities, and the importance of effective partnership with families. 

 

Who is this course for?

Anyone working with children or young people who would like to learn more about ADHD, how it can be a barrier to learning and participation in school life, how unmet needs can shape behaviour, and practical strategies to support students through creating more inclusive and effective learning environments.

Headteachers, senior leaders, SENDCOs, inclusion leads, MAT leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, learning support staff, behaviour leads and pastoral teams.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain current evidence-informed perspectives on ADHD and how executive functioning, regulation and stress influence behaviour, learning and participation.
  • Recognise how ADHD presents differently across individuals and understand the impact of intersectionality, including why some pupils may be under-identified or diagnosed later.
  • Apply practical, strengths-based strategies that reduce barriers, support regulation and improve engagement within mainstream classrooms.
  • Use the graduated approach to identify needs, implement reasonable adjustments and evaluate the effectiveness of support.
  • Develop consistent, inclusive approaches that strengthen partnerships with families and improve outcomes for pupils with ADHD.

What the course covers

Part 1: Understanding ADHD

What ADHD is and isn’t, the link between executive function and stress, the three core presentations, and why identification isn’t culturally neutral. Covers adultification bias and the under identification of quieter presentations.

  • This covers: 
    • Module 1: Understanding ADHD in educational contexts
    • Module 2: Understanding ADHD symptoms and diagnosis

Part 2: Responding Effectively

This is the part where the course moves past the strategies most teachers have already tried. Rather than adding another tip on top of existing practice, it works on shifting how staff think about behaviour and on redesigning the classroom experience itself. Also covers co-regulation, the window of tolerance, a strengths-based view of ADHD, and why girls and students holding other marginalised identities are more often missed.

  • This covers:
    • Module 3: Pedagogical strategies & teaching techniques
    • Module 4: Classroom management & environmental strategies
    • Module 5: Behavioural support & self esteem

Part 3: Inclusive Systems

The graduated approach, school vs specialist support, legal frameworks, family partnership, and how ADHD can overlap with or be mistaken for a trauma response.

  • This covers:
    • Module 6: Collaboration & legal frameworks

How does this course differ from other ADHD training?

This course:

  • Explains the cause behind the behaviour: covers the executive function and regulation difficulties driving behaviour, so the strategies make sense rather than feeling like a checklist.
  • Intersectionality runs through every section: race, gender, class, sex, language and other identities run through the whole day, covering who gets missed, misread or adultified, rather than sitting in a single add on slide.
  • Strengths based throughout: creativity, hyperfocus, enthusiasm and resilience are named alongside the difficulties, so ADHD isn’t framed purely as a deficit.
  • Focuses on the system: strategies focus on redesigning the environment (visibility, decision budgets, environmental anchors) rather than asking children to try harder or remember more.
  • Built to last beyond the day: the workbook, with its activities and glossary of terms, helps staff embed the learning back at school rather than just recall it.

Connect Fee – Inclusion by Team Teach

  • For 2026, the annual fee will reflect the number of Team Teach-certified staff within your setting.
  • This per-setting fee ensures every certified individual in your setting can access Team Teach Connect’s award-winning Knowledge Hub Inclusion resources and the Support Service.
  • Your staff require an active per-setting subscription for their Team Teach certificates to remain valid.
  • A setting refers to a single place of business, e.g., a school, care home or residential home. An organisation can comprise of a number of settings e.g. a Multi Academy Trust of schools, a Care company, a fostering agency or a recruitment agency with multiple branches.

Here’s our banded pricing structure for 2026:

  • 1–24 certified staff: £170 (+ VAT)
  • 25+ certified staff: £220 (+ VAT)
  • Pricing to be supplied

 

How it works:

  • For existing customers, the fee will be calculated at your renewal date.
  • For new customers, it will be based on your first training event in 2026.
  • This is a per-setting charge.
  • Team Teach Connect is a mandatory part of Team Teach training.
