By becoming a certified Team Teach trainer, you can help foster inclusive learning environments that align with best practices outlined by the Department of Education in the “Understanding Behaviours of Concern and Responding to Crisis Situations” guidance document.
We offer two comprehensive pathways to suit your school’s unique needs:
Foundation Trainer Plus – 3 Day
Ideal for those seeking to gain foundational knowledge and skills in positive behaviour support and conflict management. This 3 day course includes all the Team Teach theory plus safety supports – personal safety, prompts, guides and low level disengagement techniques (optional modules on small children and fight separation if needed). This course equips participants to deliver Team Teach’s one-day Level One course within their school or organisation.
Intermediate Trainer – 5 Day
Designed for professionals who require a more in-depth understanding of managing behaviours of concern. Participants will be certified to deliver the full suite of Team Teach training, including everything on our Foundation Trainer Plus course plus addition physical modules covering supporting small children, fight separation, escorts and one and two person holding skills that support students with more complex needs.

Team Teach aligns closely with Ireland’s Department of Education “Understanding Behaviours of Concern and Responding to Crisis Situations” guidelines (2024) by supporting schools in the following key ways:
1. Whole-School, Preventative and Inclusive Approaches
Team Teach promotes a whole-school ethos that mirrors the guideline’s emphasis on prevention, positive behaviour culture, and creating enabling environments. Training helps staff:
- Understand behaviour as communication
- Recognise triggers and setting events

2. Tiered, Individualised Support
Team Teach training supports the guidelines recommend of multi-tiered responses aligned with the Continuum of Support model.

- Supports staff in co-developing bespoke Student Support Plans (Support for a Few)
3. Crisis De-escalation and Response
Team Teach equips staff with evidence-informed de-escalation techniques, supporting the guideline’s message that:
“De-escalation should be used wherever possible before any other responses are considered.”
Our training includes:
- Recognition of early signs of distress
- Verbal and non-verbal de-escalation
- Safe space use and co-regulation techniques
4. Restrictive Practices as a Last Resort
The guidelines make it clear that physical restraint should only be used in crisis situations where there is imminent risk of serious physical harm, and must be:
“Timely, measured, appropriate, used by trained persons, and reviewed.”
